Creating resilience on a non-profit board

Connecting Passion, Purpose and Best Practices.

Many of us want to give back to society, perhaps to a cause that has touched our family or friends. Serving on the board of a non-profit offers us the chance to leverage and hone our business skills. We can share our marketing, accounting, academic, or legal mind, maybe get some experience in strategic planning, or general management and meet some interesting people. So, we volunteer for, apply and get elected to the Board. But, let’s be honest, despite our enthusiasm and best intentions, we don’t quite know our role and how to make the most impact.  Non-profit Boards, like any leadership group, have similar challenges (and solutions), across sectors. So, let’s recognize and learn from them, and minimize the frustrations.

Or, as a non-profit executive, we often feel we are not able to fully develop our board, or leverage its potential.  There are challenges common to all non-profit sectors. There are also several easy to implement solutions that can help us onboard, energize, and keep our board members engaged… and keep our organizations more resilient.

In August 2018, we offered our Board Management and Development workshop as a webinar, for free.  While the in-person workshop is more interactive and fun, the webinar still contains a few interactive exercises. The recording offers all the key info in a one-hour experience. In it, we review the historical context of governance, the role of the board of directors, and some common challenges and solutions.  Check it out and walk away

  • with the vocabulary,
  • greater clarity and peace of mind on your role, and
  • easy ways to make your Board even more effective.

Check out our one-hour webinar on Non-Profit Board Service and Management (recorded in August 2018, made public in June 2020)- and stay tuned for the offer at the end. The discount offer will be valid for all of 2020… and the work is done virtually.
