PMC = Pyjama Music Crew= Two Song Party

These are odd times, with much anxiety, and simultaneously, many examples of creativity and community — singing from balconies, clapping and clanging as thanks to healthcare, transportation and grocery/pharmacy/delivery workers. Many are working from home, continuing to be paid, and many have unfortunately lost work and wages.

Let’s all be kinder to each other, and ourselves.  Compassion, patience and resilience are the words of the day.

This “two-song-party” is inspired by a colleague’s similar initiative, and several friends who ask me to organize singing events.  It is an opportunity to connect, re-energize, return to a mindset of gratitude… then get back to the day. Join in your pyjamas, biz casual or a costume. It doesn’t matter what you look or sound like – simply let go and have a little wholesome fun. We’ll dance and we’ll sing — 2 songs. It’s 15 minutes of joy, to lighten the load of the rest of the day.

Join us every Monday at 3pm ET (NYC time)  (12n PT, 9p W Europe time) https://zoom.us/j/572171410?pwd=QldaUFNYZXZZUTNIVWJ3UlJ0S2F5QT09

SCIENCEY STUFF – fMRI technology was invented in 1990 at Bell Labs, and has helped us begin to understand the functioning of the brain, and what parts do or control which things.  In this Covid-19 time, we are experiencing a lot of anxiety, which constantly floods our bodies with cortisol and adrenaline.  Those stress hormones get us ready for an emergency… by limiting our prefrontal cortex  (the “thinking” brain) and making us more dependent on our amygdala (the “reptile brain”, the fight-flight-freeze decision maker).  If we can interrupt our anxiety spirals (through meditation, exercise, laughter, etc), we not only have the peaceful and fun moments, but we also move back into our creating, thinking brains.  And G-d knows, we need to manage stress and remain creative.  So, definitely make some time for play!

WHO ARE YOU? I’m a growth strategy consultant by day, facilitating strategic planning and partnering (informal to mergers) for small-medium businesses and impact organizations/initiatives. I am also a TCK (third-culture-kid), musician and former performer, and humble, enthusiastic learner of many other things.  Fundamentally, I’m a systemic thinker, who likes connecting the dots, connecting concepts, people, etc and embracing the multiple facets of our own lives… and having fun along the way. I’ve long been interested in natural medicine (herbal, and mind-body-spirit), and in the healing power of the arts- performing or visual — and firmly believe that we are at our healthiest and most productive, when we bring some joy into our lives.

FAQ:

WHY? To move, have a dose of healthy fun to energize, connect, interrupt & relieve stress, etc. and get back to work and/or other life… with more energy, joy, creativity.

UMM… Nope, you don’t need to be good, just be there and move and/or sing, however you can or can’t . Keep your video on, and enjoy sharing your and seeing other’s smiles. The whole point is to have fun, to laugh and help others do the same. The sillier or the more heartfelt, the better.

SONG LIST… In response to popular demand, 🙂 here you go check out the google sheet.
