Hello Readers,
In my updates last week, I said I would share more about my growing interest in the psychological aspects that underlie why 80+% of people and organizations are not reaching full potential… and some of the solutions. I don’t want to minimize systemic issues, although I think they could also be addressed by leveraging this factor analysis framework. Ultimately, my interests, reading and coursework have led me to focus on resilience (E2R), trust (articles & posts coming) and mental fitness. I’ll explain, and am happy to talk more when we meet in person.
Right now, most of us are in some version of
a) the rush to wrap up projects before going on vacation,
b) in the vacation with some relaxing and some herding cats to get to various (hopefully) fun activities, and/or
c) we’re getting a head start thinking about how to plan for the end of the year and make it really effective.
I was in (a) and (c) the last several weeks, and am heading into (b). Which mode are you in?
No matter which one, your mind might be elsewhere because our thoughts have a mind of their own. As best-selling author of Positive Intelligence®, Shirzad Chamine states “your mind is your best friend but also can be your worst enemy”. Is your mind your best friend when you wake up at 3am worried about tomorrow’s presentation, or tension with that teammate, or yesterday’s argument with your kids? We are human, living in a complex world. We are not constantly connected to our inner wisdom, to that inner jedi or zen-master version of ourselves. As a result, we’re often more stressed, think less clearly & productively, and are less kind to ourselves and others, than we wish.
One of the many incredible things about Positive Intelligence® and the training that has developed around it, is that centuries of wisdom, plus insights from four branches of science and hundreds of interviews with high performers have been distilled into a deceptively simple and powerful framework. This simplicity helps us become that peaceful- and powerful-warrior version of ourselves. We develop the insight and “muscles” for our mental fitness – our capacity to respond to life’s challenges with positive rather than negative mindset.
I gained so much clarity and calm resilience from Positive Intelligence® , and loved this book and course so much, that I became a facilitator-coach seven months ago. As we come out of vacation and head into the end of the year, I want to share this profound experience more widely.
If you or someone you know would like to take a leap forward in understanding how y/our thoughts sometimes sabotage what you are trying to achieve, and how to develop habits to navigate that, join my upcoming foundations of mental fitness course.
Next start dates are August 19 and October 14 (orientation the week before + seven weeks). You can check out the FAQ here and enroll here. I’m even offering you and your friends 50% off the normal price for the August start date, and 35% off the program starting in October. Contact me directly for the extra discount code for students.
As I wrote in the last newsletter, The program is designed to integrate into busy lives, but for 8 weeks, does encourage the commitment of 15 minutes mental exercise each day (app-supported) + a one-hour video and a 45-60 minute meeting each week + online community discussion. None of the elements are mandatory, but those who participate in the POD meetings are 5x more likely to cement the learnings and evolve their habits – they’re fun and make the concepts real. This program is designed to not only create insight, but when participants do the work, it builds the mental muscles to act on that insight and shift to healthier habits. Check this post for some answers to the FAQ (the course dates and structure, guarantees, cost, testimonials, how to enroll, what is a POD & how to manage it, etc).
If you know anyone who might be interested in the program, please share this info. I do recommend folks enroll early, because that offers the chance to download and play with the app, gain immediate access to some of the mental exercises, and get a headstart on the audiobook (or read the first eight chapters) of the New York Times Bestseller “Positive Intelligence” by Shirzad Chamine. I do recommend reading or listening to the book before the course starts – to hit the ground… jogging. And I am so sure that folks will find this course deeply impactful, that I offer a 14-day money-back guarantee (or 10 days into the course, whichever is later). Check out some of the testimonials at the website.

Thanks for reading. Be happy and healthy, especially this summer vacation season.
