Embracing imperfection & humor, and other ideas to make you and your business even better in 2024

Posted on

Hello Readers and Happy holidays!

It’s “the most wonderful (and stressful?) time of the year!” Check out the video message below, on laughing off and accepting the imperfections. FYI, if you watch the video on youtube.com, you’ll see the subtitles.

I hope you’ll take the time to recharge and actually enjoy this time. Whether you tend to focus on the details or the flow, you do you. And if you’re stressed, ask for help and/or let something/s go. You can also check out this free saboteur assessment to understand how you react to stress (get in touch if you’d like more insight on your “sabs”).

🎁Below, I also offer the “inner circle” friend-link to one of my recent business leadership articles, and a last-minute, long-lasting gift idea (to yourself, a loved one, or colleague). 🎁

I invite you to take 2.5 minutes to watch and laugh (and shrug & smile) with me. Take a few deep breaths when you feel stressed. And smile when you notice your inner, judgemental perfectionist “ah, there you are, I was waiting for you to rear your ugly head; now move along.”

When we accept imperfection, and channel some amusement, things become so much easier… and more fun! How insufferable (intimidating? judgemental?) would a perfect person be? And would a “perfect” dinner and setting even be enjoyable? To be sure, doing things well and experiencing beauty and quality is pleasurable; but perfect is the thief of joy (yes, I’m combining my metaphors). So, relax and have some fun with it all, too.

You deserve it. And you. are. amazing!🌟

📈For my business folks and other organizational leaders, here’s something to think about in reflecting on your past year, and what you want to build in 2024….

  • Employees want to believe in their companies/organizations, and not burn out;
  • customers want to be inspired by and trust the companies they spend their money on;
  • and companies want their employees and customers to stay engaged.
  • The world is facing a series of challenges, and everyone, every entity has a role to play. Businesses can, and are shifting from extractive to becoming part of the solutions to local and global issues, because they care, they see the trends, and these leaders know it has positive ripple effects on the business, too. Trust creates the difference in a noisy, competitive marketplace.

If you are a SMB leader and want to navigate complexity, to succeed in this fast changing world, book a free, 30-minute consultation, and I’m happy to share a few hints and resources (or partner with you) to establish or evolve your corporate citizenship culture and messaging.

In the meantime, as part of my inner circle, I’m sharing the friends link to my article on the evolving purpose of a company. It is one in my 25 article series “Embracing the Alphabet Soup of Corporate Citizenship: What Is It, Who Does It, and How to Become What the Market Increasingly Demands, So You Succeed, Surf, and Inspire (and stay ahead of regulators)”

Want to give an empowering, last-minute, long-lasting, end-of-year gift?
The mental fitness bootcamp starting January 15 will help you, your teammate/s, or loved one/s rewire your mind to release you from negative automatic thoughts, and connect to the wisest version of yourself. This small-group, research-based program will increase understanding of how our mindsets are formed (and help or hurt us), and help you channel insight and develop the mental muscles to move into greater wellness, relationships and effectiveness. Work teams and families often do it together, and it’s a great way to set the tone for the year, and grow together. What would be possible for you with a greater sense of purpose, ease and flow, in 2024?

So, friends and colleagues, Hanukkah🕎 wrapped up a week ago, we are in the 🌒solstice, and Christmas 🎄, Kwanzaa 🕯️, and New Year’s 🎆 are fast approaching.

It’s brilliantly sunny here, on this shortest day of the year. I’m in the northern half of a tilted, richly-varied, life-filled rock we call Earth, moving through a vast cosmos. And the beauty, and almost randomness of it all, has me pondering broader perspectives, stewardship (of ourselves, each other, and our surroundings), and immense gratitude.

I hope you take time this season to rest, recharge, and reconnect to what and who are important for you. Take time to dream, and to build plans, relationships, projects… and take a small step toward them.

Be good to yourself. Happy Holidays!
Thanks for reading.
