I feel better after my Hiking & Forest-bathing Break

Posted on

I am so grateful to have been involved (a small bit) with the pandemic response. That said, after 3+ months working with the NYC Vaccine Project, alongside 6 months of intense activity with a Board and a former client 😬, I am also *extremely grateful for this (solo-travel) break in upstate NY. And today was a wonderfully varied day, which included Shinrin-yoku, or the Japanese insight of the magical healing effect of spending time forest-bathing.

  • Today featured ⛰🏞 mountains and marshes, (or waterfalls, walking, and waves) plus the adorable and welcoming town I’m staying in —
  • 🦋butterflies in the gardens and 😉 along the streets,
  • 💖 inclusive social justice signs
  • 😋 delicious, vegan, gluten-free food – yes, for real! It was even worthy of taking the time to write a review!
  • 💖 a fun & funky young couple recently transplanted there from NYC & loooving it 😄 (She from NoCal, he from Liberia; recommending I move there too — hmmm, something to actually think about),…
  • 🛌 and my comfy, calm airbnb. I am happy to have this opportunity to clear my mind, refresh my spirit, and take time before deciding which option emerges as best.

*I wish the same for you all– a break to rest and recenter, even one day, and then discern (rather than rush to a should) your options, and what’s next. *#gratitude #wellearnedvacation #upstateny #hiking #hudsonvalley #butterflies #ThingsAlwaysWorkOutSomehow #natureheals #natureinspires #meditate #trusttheprocess #solotravel #trustyourintuition

With great joy and restored peace and hope ~ a 40-something city dweller, who relished the greenery
