Hello Readers,
Welcome to the whirlwind of September! Do you ever wish you could manage the changes and challenges a bit more effectively (and maybe with less snapping at colleagues and family)? You have presence and resilience, but it feels like it’s often not enough to enable the calm, clear thinking and action you dream of.
- So,take a few deep breaths,
- unplug a minute, and
- settle into knowing that the pause, and fun, are what recharge us
to become aware of our thoughts and manage the whirlwind that is the run up to year-end goals, alongside back to school time. You’ve got this.
In this message, I share two, resilience stories; share an offer to help you find your flow now to limit self-sabotage and achieve your end of year goals (enroll by Sept 15); and ask you 4 questions.
There’s a lot of crazy stuff happening in our lives, our towns, and around the world. There’s also a lot of good stuff. Many point to the power of gratitude to help us notice even more of the good, and stay resilient. As Mr. Rogers would say, “look for the helpers.” And now, here are the two stories — one of personal resilience, the other related to corporate resilience. Business can be a force for good and global resilience!* Simplifying helps. So, here is a quick story of a challenging time and a fun discovery of what the author needs each day to keep going – SPIA, to put things in perspective. To stay resilient in the face of a job search, the author realized she needed to do something social, productive, intellectual, and active each day. You can also check it out on instagram (@e2resilience). Fyi, E2R is Glocal’s resilience initiative. |
* Also, here is the “friend” link to my Quick History of Corporate Sustainability – Making Sense of the Alphabet Soup. It is the second of my article series on the alphabet soup of corporate citizenship (24 published, 5 more coming before the end of the year!). I want small & medium business (SMB) leaders to see how the culture, productivity, and profitability pieces fit together and offer resilience in a fast-changing world. I also want them to have examples of successful, values-driven companies to follow, and be inspired and empowered to take action. |
In previous messages, I mentioned the evidence-based program I am facilitating which distills the insights of four branches of science and interviews with hundreds of high performers, into a deceptively simple framework which helps us understand and limit our self-sabotaging thoughts. We share the insights, and more importantly, help you train and build the mental muscles (just like the gym), to actually shift our habits, so we spend more of our life in a positive mindset. And it’s incredibly powerful in helping navigate the transitions so many of us are going through — from summer to prepping the end of year, new opportunities or corporate reorganizations, family changes, etc.
If you are interested in joining, I’m offering it at cost this time. More information is here and FAQ. Feel free to give me a call or email with questions, and enroll by September 15.
And now, my questions for you:
1. Would you fill out this one question survey, click here to help me better understand why people did and didn’t enroll in the August mental fitness program (described in my July 26 and August 12 newsletters)
2. My focus & invitation to stick around or unsubscribe — I’m going to be sharing stories of resilience, and the “alphabet soup of corporate citizenship”, about twice a month. I’ll also occasionally mention my coaching offers. If you’re interested, please stick around. If you’re not, unsubscribe (link at bottom), and no hard feelings.
3. Would you share my contact information and my calendly, with people you know who would be interested in those topics, or in coaching to help small-medium-business leaders navigate a fast changing world, succeed & inspire? You can even forward this newsletter with your one-liner, and I would be happy to offer him/her a free, 30 minute mini-coaching session (a $200 value) or discuss some of the topics.
4. Do you know folks I should interview for my articles? The next stage in my “alphabet soup of corporate citizenship” project is to interview two types of folks in October & November
- C-suite executives- about how they balance business priorities, including the long-term environmental and social impacts and reputation management; and
- ESG, DEIB, CS & CSR experts (see why I call it alphabet soup 😉 ?) about the challenges and opportunities they navigate to get their companies doing better.
Let me know if you think of someone I should definitely speak with. Thank you all for any of your As to my Qs! 😊🙏
